Picks of the day 2

HAWKING
This touching drama follows the early years of genius Stephen Hawking's fascinating life. Diagnosed with the debilitating motor neurone disease as a bright, 21-year-old PhD student at Cambridge University, Hawking was given just two years to live. Battling against all the odds, he fights the cruel frustration of having a brilliant brain trapped in a deteriorating body and goes on to achieve worldwide acclaim for his theoretical physics. Benedict Cumberbatch gives a moving performance playing the role of this truly inspirational man.
EMMERDALE
You just can't play happy families in Soapland, especially tonight in the Yorkshire Dales, as there's more heartache for Debbie Dingle. The poor lass discovers the arrangement her mother made with Zoe for her early release from prison - at baby Noah's expense. Elsewhere, Katie and Robert panic about Victoria's behavious, while Jack believes something is seriously wrong with her and decides to seek medical advice. Meanwhile, Laurel and Ashley (above) try to make up after their lover's tiff.
NO ANGELS
This saucey series about four rather racy nurses continues with a real corker of an episode tonight. The boundaries between the personal and professional lives of the fab four become even more blurred on the wards of St Margaret's. Dangerous liaisons, uncomplicated sex and unruly behaviour are on the girls' minds - for a change. Kate tries to ditch her good girl image with Dutch doctor Willem, while wayward lad Jamie's big mouth lands the hospital in a spot of bother.
CRIMINAL INTENT
In tonight's episode of the crime drama series, detectives Goren and Eames have their work cut out. They are called in to investigate the case of a heart surgeon found dead at his son's Bar Mitzvah and all the clues point towards a man who was dating the dead man's sister-in-law. Obviously written with hyperactive viewers in mind, the story speeds through a whole spectrum of suspects without pausing for breath. Mafia mobsters, a lavish stalker, a corrupt judge and an ex-cop hit man - how much more could you ask for in an hour?
