ALANIS MORISSETTE - THE COLLECTION
NEED TO KNOW
Alanis went shockingly (and ill-advisably) blonde around the same time she released this greatest hits album, 10 years after Jagged Little Pill went platinum.
BEST TRACK
The theatrical and dramatic Uninvited is a chillingly soulful reminder of what a powerful solo artist the Canadian is.
WORST TRACK
The disappointing cover of Crazy adds nothing to Seal’s classic original and makes us wonder why the gifted songsmith couldn’t have chosen one of her self-penned tracks.
ONE FOR THE COLLECTION?
If (like most of us) the last Alanis album you bought was the angst-ridden Jagged Little Pill then get down to the shops quick smart. JF
BABYSHAMBLES - DOWN IN ALBION
NEED TO KNOW
The debut album from the tabloid headline-hogging, Ms Moss dating, ex Libertine and his new not-so-merry band.
BEST TRACK
A new recording of Killamangiro is a crowd-pleasing, defiant slur-along, gig anthem.
WORST TRACK
All credit for cross-genre experimentation, but Pentonville – a self-indulgent dragged-out attempt at reggae named after the famous London prison – should have been kept under lock and key.
ONE FOR THE COLLECTION?
Yes. But only for Libertine’s fans – and those who want to check-out guest vocalist Kate Moss’ talents off the catwalk. JF
